Kathy Lee is a teacher and director of Vivace Piano Studio. She teaches students of all ages at her independent piano studio in Huonville, Tasmania. As a devoted teacher and lifelong learner, Kathy is a frequent attendee of conferences and workshops to refine her craft. 

 

Kathy enjoys connecting with fellow piano teachers through the Australasian Piano Teachers, MTA NSW and TMTA Tasmanian Music Teachers Association. 

 

Kathy was born in Seoul, South Korea. She started learning the piano at the age of 6. She migrated to Sydney, Australia when she was 9 with mum, dad and her 5 older sisters. She continued learning the piano with Professor Patricia Halpin in the Sutherland Shire. She completed AMEB grade 8 in Piano and AMEB grade 4 in Music Theory while she was in high school. Graduating a teaching degree lead her teaching languages and music at schools both in primary and secondary. 

 

Vivace Piano Studio was set up and run successfully by Kathy for 18 years teaching 40-50 students herself. Majority of her students started learning the piano with Kathy at the age of 4. She saw them grow every week and some grew as an adult. Students took exams through AMEB and Trinity and achieved excellent results. Watching their love and passion grow for music and piano motivated Kathy every day as a piano teacher to love each and one of them. Many of her students now continue with their music journey with other teachers in Sydney, and some have even become excellent piano teachers themselves.
