Welcome — I’m Kathy Lee, Piano & Music Theory Teacher
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students of all ages on their musical journeys — from bright-eyed beginners as young as 3.5 years old to adults rediscovering the piano later in life. Many of my students have studied with me for the full 18 years, and some have even gone on to become piano teachers themselves.
I offer in-person piano and music theory lessons at my welcoming home studio in North Strathfield, NSW 2137. Whether you’re a young child starting your first notes, a school-aged student preparing for exams, or an adult learning for the joy of it, lessons are always tailored to suit your individual pace, goals, and learning style.
I create a nurturing, engaging, and structured environment that helps students build not just skill, but confidence and a lifelong love of music. With a strong foundation in both practical and theoretical training, I support students through AMEB exams, performance opportunities, or simply learning for personal enjoyment.

About Me.
Kathy is an experienced piano teacher and the director of Vivace Piano Studio, with over 20 years of dedicated teaching experience. She now offers both personalised in-person lessons at her home studio in North Strathfield, NSW 2137, and flexible online piano and music theory lessons for adult students around the world.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kathy began learning piano at the age of six. At nine, she migrated to Sydney, Australia, with her parents and five older sisters. She continued her piano studies with Professor Patricia Halpin in the Sutherland Shire, completing AMEB Grade 8 in Piano and Grade 4 in Music Theory during her school years.
After earning her teaching degree, Kathy taught both music and languages in primary and secondary schools before founding Vivace Piano Studio. Over nearly two decades, she successfully taught 40–50 students each week, nurturing their musical growth from early childhood into adulthood. Many students began at just four years old and stayed with her throughout their school years and beyond—some now accomplished musicians and piano teachers themselves.
Kathy is now delighted to welcome new students of all ages, from 3.5-year-old beginners to adults returning to the piano. In-person lessons are held in a calm, supportive environment in North Strathfield, designed to help every student thrive musically and personally.
Online lessons remain available for adult learners worldwide who enjoy the flexibility and convenience of learning from home. Lessons are conducted via FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams—or whichever platform best suits the student. All that’s needed is a piano or keyboard and a smartphone or tablet for setup.
Kathy brings warmth, patience, and deep experience to every lesson, whether she’s introducing a young child to their first notes or guiding an adult back to their musical passion. She stays active in the teaching community as a member of Australasian Piano Teachers and MTA NSW, continually enriching her own teaching practice.
