Vivace Piano Studio
Online Piano and Music Theory Teacher
Hello! I’m Kathy Lee, an experienced and qualified piano and music theory teacher with over 18 years of teaching experience. Since 2005, I’ve been helping students build confidence and joy through music — and I now specialise in teaching adult learners through flexible, online lessons.
Whether you’re returning to the piano after years away, starting for the first time, or exploring music theory, I create a personalised, supportive space that fits your pace and lifestyle.
Lessons are held via Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, Microsoft Teams, or your preferred platform — all you need is a phone or tablet. Online lessons offer convenience without compromising quality, and they can be just as personal and motivating as in person.
If you’ve always wanted to learn, or to pick up where you left off, I’d love to help you reach your musical goals.

About Us
Kathy is an experienced piano teacher and the director of Vivace Piano Studio. With over 18 years of teaching experience, she now offers personalised online piano and music theory lessons for adult students from anywhere in the world.
Kathy was born in Seoul, South Korea, and began learning piano at the age of six. She migrated to Sydney, Australia, with her parents and five older sisters when she was nine. Continuing her piano studies with Professor Patricia Halpin in the Sutherland Shire, Kathy went on to complete AMEB Grade 8 in Piano and Grade 4 in Music Theory during high school.
After earning her teaching degree, Kathy taught both music and languages in primary and secondary schools. She later founded Vivace Piano Studio, where she successfully taught 40–50 students each week for 18 years. Many of her students began at age four and continued into adulthood, with several going on to become accomplished musicians and teachers themselves.
Now teaching exclusively online, Kathy specialises in working with adult learners who appreciate the flexibility and comfort of studying from home. Lessons are conducted via FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams—or whichever platform suits the student best. All that’s needed is a piano or keyboard and a smartphone or tablet for setup.
Kathy brings warmth, patience, and deep experience to each lesson, whether helping beginners get started or guiding returning pianists in rediscovering their love for music. Her commitment to lifelong learning keeps her connected with the teaching community through the Australasian Piano Teachers, MTA NSW, and the TMTA (Tasmanian Music Teachers Association).
Wherever you are in the world, if you’ve ever dreamed of playing the piano or returning to it as an adult, Kathy would love to be part of your musical journey.
